This weekend it rained…and rained…and rained. The sidewalks seemed quieter, and I think a lot of people hunkered down in sweats and ordered delivery. Tempting though that is, looking put together on a dreary day is actually pretty easy. You just need to have the right weather-appropriate accessories: a cute umbrella, a waterproof trench coat, and a great pair of rain boots. It helps to add some sparkle and a bit of color too.
While my umbrella and coat were both bargain buys, my boots were definitely an investment. For a long time, I would spend $20-30 on a pair of fun, patterned rain boots from Target. As much as I love Target, those boots never made it more than one season, inevitably tearing and defeating their entire purpose. After hearing so many good things about Hunters, I finally sucked it up and took the plunge a couple of years ago. I have to say, they are seriously one of the best investments I’ve ever made. Honestly, if I totaled up how much I spent on cheap boots, it would probably come pretty close to the cost of one pair of quality boots. Hunters fit great, and because I’m on the petite end of the scale, I opted for the “short” version of the Original rubber boots. I can still tuck my pants in, and they work better for my short legs.
